Tracy LawrenceTracy Lawrence will take a break from his normal tour schedule this coming weekend to play a special show for U.S. troops stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, on Sunday (Oct. 4). Commonly referred to as "Gitmo," Guantanamo Bay is the location of the American detainment facility and home to nearly 8,000 members of the U.S. military stationed at the base. It's the oldest U.S. base overseas and the only one in a Communist country.

"Without question 'Gitmo' has made headline news, both past and present, but the people situated there are giving and caring individuals," Tracy said in a statement. "We need to be thankful every day for their sacrifices and commitment to our country.

The singer's visit is being organized as part of the Liberty Program, catering to the service members living in Guantanamo Bay. The program hosts a wide range of recreational activities, including entertainment events all year long. Entertainers such as John Michael Montgomery and Ted Nugent have also visited the naval base.
