It may not be ocean-front property in Arizona, but George Strait is the proud owner of a newly-renovated golf course resort in his home state of Texas. The 59-year-old recently unveiled the final result of an eight-month process to upgrade the 250-acre Tapatio Springs Golf Resort and Conference Center, which he and his partner, Tom Cusick, purchased in April.

"We were thrilled to officially unveil the new look, feel and flavors of Tapatio," the King of Country says (quote via "Tom and I have worked hard to create the perfect Texas Hill Country resort, and we look forward to hosting golfers, families and friends, and the community as they experience all that Tapatio Springs has to offer."

The property, which includes a 112-room hotel, now boasts a newly-designed dining area, pro shop, bar area and men and women's locker rooms. Almost everything was subject to redesign, except the actual golf course, which the San Marcos, Texas resident says they chose to leave untouched.

"We think the layout -- especially the original 18 -- is a great layout," George explains to San Antonio radio station KSAT. "It might require a little tweaking here and there, but we don't have any plans for that right now."

The project was a labor of love for the two avid golfers. "George and I, we've been coming out here for over 25 years, and over the last 10 years, we virtually stopped coming here," Tom notes. "It was just sad to see the condition it was in."

That sentiment is echoed by the award-winning country legend.

"It was lacking a lot of TLC and that's what we're giving it now," George confirms. "We're trying to bring it back and we WILL do it."

The Country Music Hall of Famer recently released his 39th studio album, 'Here for a Good Time,' which topped the country chart. The title track from the CD, which George wrote with his son, Bubba, and songwriter Dean Dillon, became his 58th No. 1 hit.

George will hit the road in January for a series of shows that includes stops in Louisiana, Georgia and Arizona, with Martina McBride joining him as his opening act. Keep track of his schedule here.
