George Strait, Blake Shelton Land at No. 1 on Singles Charts
Two country music titans top the singles charts this week with George Strait claiming the No. 1 Mediabase slot with 'Here for a Good Time,' and Blake Shelton reaching the summit on Billboard with 'God Gave Me You.'
'Here for a Good Time' marks King George's 58th chart-topper, making him country music's most decorated singles artist. The momentous occasion is also George's first trip to the top as a songwriter, proudly sharing the achievement with his son, Bubba Strait and co-writer Dean Dillon. The single is the first radio offering from George's latest studio album of the same name, which debuted at No. 1 last month, selling 91,000 copies in its first week of release.
Blake keeps his streak of consecutive No. 1 singles alive, notching the tally to five (10th overall) with 'God Gave Me You,' the second single from 'Red River Blue,' his latest chart-topping album. Upon hearing songwriter Dave Barnes' version on a Christian radio station, Blake confesses, "There was never a question ... I never looked back after that," he says. "I knew it was going to be a pivotal song for the album."
