William Michael Morgan has landed his first No. 1 song with his debut single, "I Met a Girl."

It was a long road to the top for Morgan and "I Met a Girl." The single spent 58 weeks at country radio and 49 weeks on the Mediabase / Country Aircheck chart; that's a record for the chart's longest run to the top spot.

“What a dream come true,” Morgan says in a press release. “After 58 weeks of clawing and fighting and believing and trusting ... I am proud and, most importantly, honored to announce my gratitude and many thanks to everyone involved in this most special moment in my life, and in my career! Here's to this No. 1 and hopefully many more to come. God bless all of you. And God bless country music!”

"I Met a Girl" was co-written by Sam Hunt, Trevor Rosen and Shane McAnally. The song is featured on Morgan's debut album, Vinyl, released on Sept. 30. In addition to "I Met a Girl," the disc holds 10 other tracks, including Morgan's upcoming single, "Missing."
