Miranda Lambert is a country star that many look up to, but during a show on Sunday (June 28) at Dauphin's Countryfest in Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada, the singer shared the stage with one of her biggest influences: Carolyn Dawn Johnson.

Lambert introduced Johnson -- who happens to be Canadian, and has also been acting as as one of Lambert's backup singers on tour -- by saying, "She's one of my biggest heroes and influences. So I thought we'd sing a couple [songs] together. From Alberta, Miss Carolyn Dawn Johnson!"

As Johnson took the stage, she said, "I'm super-honored to be singing with you," before asking the crowd, "Isn't Miranda amazing?" The ecstatic crowd erupted in applause -- and not just for the "Platinum" singer.

Lambert then introduced "Complicated," the first song of several that she and Johnson they sang together, by noting, "This is one of my most favorite songs that [Johnson] does, so I asked if we could do it for y'all tonight."

Johnson strummed her acoustic guitar as the two women sang the confessional lyrics: "It's such a contradiction / Do I lie or tell the truth? / Is it fact or fiction? / Oh, the way I feel for you."

"Complicated" was a Top 10 hit for Johnson on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2001.

Lambert recently announced her all-female Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour, which will begin in the fall, and is proud to help other up-and-coming women in country.

“I really support female artists in any genre, especially country music right now,” she explains. “I’ve taken girls on tour for a long time, and I want to continue to do that because I feel like I can give them a platform."
