Thomas Rhett Opens Up About Collaboration With Brett Eldredge
Thomas Rhett and Brett Eldredge are getting ready to team up for their co-headlining 2015 CMT on Tour, during which they'll undoubtedly share the stage to perform the new song on which they collaborated.
In mid-June, the two singers got the rumor mill churning when, in quick succession, they each posted an Instagram photo of themselves in the studio. Soon after, Rhett discussed the collaboration during a radio interview -- but only in a hypothetical sense. But in a recent interview with Taste of Country, Rhett confirmed that their collaboration, "You Can't Stop Me," will be on Eldredge's upcoming Illinois album, which is set for release on Sept. 11.
“I think it’s cool,” Rhett says. “Me and Brett both have pretty progressive records coming out, and we’re going on tour together in the fall … so it’ll be fun to see how many people wanna come out to a T.R. and Brett show.”
Amazon's track listing for Illinois lists "You Can't Stop Me" as the second track on the new record.
Rhett meanwhile will release his sophomore record, Tangled Up, on Sept. 25. It includes collaborations with both Jordin Sparks and Lunch Money Lewis, and the 25-year-old says that his new set of tunes will show a different side of his artistry than his freshman 2013 It Goes Like This disc.
“I didn’t grow up listening to just one style of music. So, I don’t know how to write just one style of music,” Rhett acknowledges. “Whether these songs have more of a pop influence or more of a hip-hop influence or a completely country influence, they all — in some crazy way — cohesively sound like a ‘me song.’”
Regardless of whether fans are coming to hear him or Eldredge on their fall tour, Rhett guarantees that people will have a good time.
“At our shows, there aren’t any rules,” Rhett explains. “There’s no such thing as standing still and just singing a song. I love jumping into the crowd. I love to dance. The whole show is very uptempo, high energy and completely unpredictable.”
Danielle Bradbery will serve as the opening act for the 2015 CMT on Tour.
