Vince GillNashvillians who attended the Eric Clapton concert at the downtown arena on Saturday night (Feb. 27) got a special treat when another notable guitar slinger, Vince Gill, took the stage to join the guitar legend. The veteran ax men wailed away on their respective instruments during the show's acoustic set. Vince played four songs with Clapton including the Bessie Smith blues standard, 'Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out,' as well as Clapton's 'I've Got a Rock and Roll Heart' and 'Running on Faith.' When the two performed the rock classic, 'Layla,' acoustically, Eric gave Vince plenty of solo time to shine.

Eric welcomed Vince to the stage again at the end of the evening for a final, fiery solo on the Robert Johnson/Cream classic, 'Crossroads.'

Vince is currently in the studio working on his next album and will appear with Eric and nearly 30 other guitarists including Jeff Beck, Sheryl Crow and Buddy Guy at Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival scheduled for June 26 at Chicago's Toyota Park.
