Sunny Sweeney ACM Video Is Funny Parody of ‘SNL’ Classic, ‘D— in a Box’
Sunny Sweeney is a jokester -- anyone who follows her on Twitter (@GettinSweenered) can attest to that. So when her first-ever ACM award nomination was announced this week, she immediately got to work on a humorous campaign strategy.
As the ACM's new artist categories and Entertainer of the Year are decided by the fans, nominees in recent years have made special videos enticing people to vote. There have been a lot of funny ones, like Taylor Swift explaining the ACMs to her cat and Thompson Square talking smack, but we have to give props to Sunny for making the most clever ACM nominee video to date. The Texas native has rewritten the lyrics to Justin Timberlake and Andy Samburg's "D--- in a Box" from "Saturday Night Live." Watch Sunny's "Click in a Box" video, with scenes (and wardrobe) reminiscent of the hilarious "SNL" digital short.
Sunny is up against Jana Kramer and Kacey Musgraves for the ACM's New Female Vocalist honors. Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert and Hunter Hayes are up for New Male Vocalist. Florida Georgia Line, Love and Theft and Thompson Square will battle it out for New Vocal Duo or Group. The winner in each category will be announced in February, with the three going on to compete for New Artist of the Year at the live April 7 broadcast. Fan voting begins Monday, Jan. 21, here. We're predicting a few more funny videos from the nominees between now and then!
