Shooter Jennings has collaborated with Dave Cobb to release a new song, "Do You Love Texas?" in support of the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Readers can press play above to listen to the tune, a rowdy, honky-tonk track full of Lone Star spirit.

Jennings and Cobb are some of the numerous country stars, many of whom hail from Texas, who have rallied to support the thousands of people who lost their homes and property during late August's Hurricane Harvey. However, Jennings says the song was born before tragedy struck the state.

“Dave and I are like little kids in the studio: When nobody else is around, we say goofy kid things to each other. Some of our greatest collaborations came from ideas like that," Jennings shares in a press release. "Dave turned to me and said, 'Hey man, Texas loves you. We need to write a song for Texas.’ I looked at Dave and sang, ‘Do you love Texas?’ And he said, ‘Hell yeah!’ And I sang, ‘So do I.’ And the rest of it fell right into place."

Jennings and Cobb recorded "Do You Love Texas" with a little background help from some of their friends: Ray Benson, Jason Boland, Kris Kristofferson, Kacey Musgraves, Whiskey Myers and Randy Rogers all pitched in on the effort.

"We had a great time crafting a song that playfully talks about why Texas is so much damn fun," Jennings says. "Then tragedy fell on Houston, and Dave had the idea to use the song to help Texas. Dave’s a genius, man."

Adds Cobb, "It was a blast being back in the studio with my old buddy Shooter ... It’s almost as if we picked right up where we left off. Texas was always great to us, and it’s the birthplace of many of our heroes. After we recorded the song ... and Harvey had done so much damage, it just felt right to donate all proceeds to help any way we can."

"Do You Love Texas?" is available for download, and all proceeds from sales of the song go directly to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts through the Rebuild Texas Fund.
