Nickel Creek are ready to release their first album since their 2007 hiatus.

'A Dotted Line,' produced by Eric Valentine, will hit shelves on April 1, with a vinyl release on April 29.

The Grammy Award-winning trio decided to reunite in celebration of their 25th anniversary, and began writing new material at mandolin player Chris Thile's apartment last year.

The writing session produced six new songs that they combined with a tune from Thile and a song from guitar player Sean Watkins, along with two covers, to create the new project.

“We were excited every day to be there,” fiddle player Sara Watkins says of recording in Los Angeles. “Having grown up singing together, there is something natural about our voices and it’s really fun to harmonize. Our voices have come to match each others' really well. Sean and I are siblings, and Chris is about as close to a sibling as you could get.”

The band parted ways in 2007 to try different projects. Sara ventured into a solo career at that point, while Sean started the band Fiction Family and Thile began playing with the Punch Brothers.

“It feels more natural and easy than it ever did, by far," Sean says. "Getting to spend time alone with our own musical personalities has helped us mature.”

'A Dotted Line' is available for pre-order on Amazon and iTunes.
