Nickel Creek Announce Reunion, Share New Music
It's been seven years since neo-bluegrass trio Nickel Creek played the final show of their Farewell Tour at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, and it's finally time for a comeback.
The band will return to the place it all ended with two shows at the Ryman on April 18 and 19, along with other shows on a short reunion tour.
The band, consisting of mandolin player Chris Thile and siblings Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins, have also debuted a new song. 'Destination' features Sara's clean sound on lead, accompanied by upbeat background vocals and instrumentals -- a sound that is not as dark as 2005's 'Why Should the Fire Die?,' but contains many similar musical elements.
Pre-sale tickets for all shows went on sale Feb. 4 and sold out within a matter of hours. Public sale tickets will be available on Feb. 7 through Nickelcreek.com.
The website says more tour dates are to come, but doesn't hint as to an album release date.
