LeAnn Rimes Discloses Painful Disease

LeAnn Rimes is featured in a new PSA to raise awareness for psoriasis. The singer is disclosing for the first time publicly that she has suffered from the disease since she was 2 years old. Rimes says that as a young girl, she was covered in painful red patches on her skin.

"Not only does that take a physical toll on your body, but it takes an emotional toll," Rimes tells PEOPLE magazine. "I was very self-conscious."

Rimes has now been symptom-free for five years, thanks to diet and medication. She is sharing her struggle with psoriasis on behalf of the 'Stop Hiding' campaign, hoping to help the almost seven million Americans who suffer from the disease. You can watch her PSA here.
