Kane Brown Promises to Be There ‘For My Daughter’ in New Song [LISTEN]
Kane Brown became a dad on Tuesday (Oct. 29), and the major life moment has the country singer inspired. On Friday (Nov. 1), Brown released a brand-new song, "For My Daughter," that promises his brand-new baby girl, Kingsley Rose Brown, that he'll try his best to give her the world.
Slow, sweet and traditional, "For My Daughter" finds Brown promising that he'll be there for Kingsley during both the highs and the lows. He won't be perfect, the singer admits, but, he adds, "I grew up without a dad, so I'm gonna be the best one I can be."
"They say dads are supposed to shape you / In a way, I guess mine did / I knew what I wouldn't do if I ever had a kid," Brown sings, getting real about his own less-than-perfect childhood and family. Brown's father went to jail in the mid-1990s, when Brown was young, and his single mom struggled to make ends meet.
Baby Kingsley is Brown and wife Katelyn's first child. Her first name is a feminized version of the name Kingston, while her middle name, Rose, comes from her mother's side of the family.
"My love for this little baby girl though y’all," Brown gushed on Twitter on Thursday (Oct. 31). "I told her every night before bed while she was in mama's belly, 'Hi baby King, it’s your daddy, I love you.' Every time she cries, I can actually grab her now and say that, and she immediately stops crying! Already a daddy’s girl!"
Brown and Jae got married a little over one year ago, on Oct. 12, 2018. They met in 2015 through a work acquaintance (Jae studies music management and is involved in the business as well) and got engaged on Easter in 2017.
