The ever-confident Eric Church has been shaken to his core. What, pray tell, is bringing on a case of nerves for the 'Smoke a Little Smoke' singer? Only the mere fact he and his wife Katherine are going to be first-time parents! Eric admits to being a bit dazed, especially when he considers the magnitude of his role as a dad.

"It's a scary thing when you have somebody else depending on you for guidance, and [laughs] I'm trying to find my guidance," Eric tells The Boot. "Sometimes I'm probably not the one to follow down the road. I was joking with my wife, saying, 'We came into this year knowing we were going to have a new kid, but we thought it was going to be the record in July.' We're excited. It'll be a journey. It'll be an adventure. We're probably just going to pack the kid up and take him [or her] on the road."

Taking a baby on the road takes quite a bit of work, since there are toys, diapers, a playpen and a lot of attention and love. However, Eric seems to have it all figured out ... for now! "There's going to be no coddling. We are musicians. This is what we do. So, suck it up and let's do it," he jokes. "We'll get you some headphones to cover your ears, and let's go play. [laughs]"

Eric and his wife will find out the sex of the baby in the next three to four weeks. "Then you have a more directed approach. We're kind of waiting on that part," says the singer. "And I don't care. I always used to make fun of people that said they don't care, because I'd go, 'Come on. You care.' But I don't! I don't care. Boy or girl, it doesn't matter to me. As long as it's healthy. It's going to be fun."

Eric's current "baby," 'Homeboy,' is making its way up the charts. It's the first release from his upcoming third studio album, set for release in July.
