Eric Church isn't the kind of guy to ask fans to vote for him for an Academy of Country Music Award, yet the Top New Solo Vocalist nominee couldn't help but sign on when executives at his record label showed him a "campaign" video designed with just that goal in mind.

The video -- a montage of cameos by teens, adults, school children and seniors in a variety of settings -- is just the type of clip Eric thought his fans would enjoy.

"I laughed out loud when I saw it," Eric tells The Boot of the video that features people talking about 'doing it,' which in this case refers to casting ACM votes. "It's a great tongue-in-cheek video and I really like it. We don't have a typical fan base. We have a younger, college crowd, so I thought they'd like something that was a little different."

Last year Luke Bryan, who is also in Eric's video, enlisted Kenny Rogers, Dierks Bentley, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, Emily West, Little Jimmy Dickens and, well, himself clad in a leotard reminiscent of Beyoncé, for a video encouraging fans to vote for him. The video drew much fan excitement and Luke won the ACM's Top New Artist award.

Although Eric is heartened by the number of fans who've expressed excitement about the video in his race for Top New Solo Vocalist against Easton Corbin and Randy Houser, he says he still likes to keep something of a low profile where awards are concerned.

"I'm not a guy who feels comfortable saying, 'Vote for me! Vote for me!'" Eric insists. "I never make music to win awards. If that's why you make music, you are really cheapening the music. If I won seven awards or no awards, I'd still make the same music."
