Blake Shelton: Twitter Lets Me ‘Joke Around’ With My Fans

Blake Shelton has earned plenty of criticism for his outlandish tweets (@blakeshelton), offending everyone from animal lovers to gay rights activists, but don't expect him to start censoring himself anytime soon. The 36-year-old says he will continue to tweet whatever he wants, because it's what his fans expect of him.

"I thank God for the fact that y'all have a sense of humor too," he maintains (quote via the Country Vibe). "There's nothing cooler to me than when people talk to me and say, 'Oh my gosh, the stuff that you say on Twitter and the way that you and your fans interact, do you ever get nervous about that?' And I say, 'Hell no, I don't get nervous about it because we actually have fun; we joke around with each other.'"

The Oklahoma native says he thinks it is because of his honesty that he has well over two million followers, most of whom appreciate his candor. "Me and my fan base, we actually have a realistic, fun relationship to where I don't get on Twitter and just try to sell my fans stuff every day or say be sure and check out this new album," he notes. "I want to actually joke around and have fun with my fans ... I just don't take myself that serious and I think once my fans have caught onto that, they don't either."

One person who doesn't totally approve of the "Over" singer's outspoken tweets is his wife, fellow country superstar Miranda Lambert. "I unfollow Blake quite frequently," she admitted to Us Weekly magazine. "Some days it is just too much."

Blake is undoubtedly still basking in the victory of watching his teammate, Cassadee Pope become the Season 3 winner of "The Voice." The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year will enjoy a few months off the road while he works on a new album.
