The Band Perry had quite an impressive breakout year in 2010, and it's no wonder since they were working on the road all but 19 days out of the entire year. (That's 346 days for those of you trying to do the math in your head.) So one guess as to how they spent much of their holidays ... working, of course, on material for the followup to their debut CD.

"We did do some writing over the break," Kimberly admits to The Boot. "Our creative muscle got a little flabby last year, we were only home 19 days in 2010. And we didn't find any time to be creative, had no idea how to multi-task in that way. So over the holidays we holed up in a cabin in North Carolina and did the deed. We got creative."

As a New Year's resolution, Kimberly had hoped to start writing down some thoughts and reflections as they were experiencing these career moments, but had a hard time finding the time even to do that! "I've already busted that resolution, but I've just decided my journaling will be in songwriting, and I'll keep it all in this brain of mine and just pour it out into music," she says.

Last year's accolades brought the trio's first No. 1 song, 'If I Die Young,' as well as a Grammy nomination in the Best Country Song category. "What's funny is whenever you have a schedule like we did last year, you almost have to retroactively embrace the moment," Neil explains. "We're having to wait for like a week of time where we can just sit down and decompress."

"But over the holidays we certainly let it kind of soak into our system, and into our hearts and minds a little bit," Kimberly adds. "But it's foundational building years for us right now, and we're kind of the blue collar band; we like to just roll up our sleeves and keep working. That's what our 2011 is shaping up to be."

It's a good thing the Perrys took a little time in December, because it's back to the grindstone for the band in 2011. They embark on a major tour with Tim McGraw in March, some dates with Blake Shelton starting in February, and even hit the road with Keith Urban for a few Canadian shows this fall.
