An annual celebration of Georgia music is coming back to Nashville in 2016: The Peach Pickers' third annual Georgia on My Mind concert is set to take place at the Ryman Auditorium in May.
Released in October of 2009 by Joe Nichols, "Gimme That Girl" was written by the Peach Pickers: Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip. The song was the second single from Nichols' Old Things New album and, in May of 2010, became Nichols' third career No. 1 single. It also earned a Top 40 spot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart (No. 34) and was one of the Top 10 songs on 2010's year-end Billboard Country Songs chart (No. 7). Inside, Akins and Davidson tell The Boot how the song came to be.
Thomas Rhett just scored his third No.1 single with "Make Me Wanna," making the song -- which was written by Rhett along with Bart Butler and Larry McCoy -- his third chart-topping hit from his freshman It Goes Like This album. And while it might seem like Rhett had an advantage in the tough-as-nails country music industry, since Rhett Akins is his famous father, the proud dad says that all the credit belongs solely to his son.
Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip co-wrote Blake Shelton's 2010 single, "All About Tonight." Released as the first single from Shelton's EP of the same name, "All About Tonight" became the singer's seventh No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and landed at No. 8 on the year-end Billboard Country Songs chart. Inside, Akins tells The Boot about the inspiration for the tune.
In the latter part of 2006, Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip got together to write, not knowing that their lives would soon change forever. The three songwriters, christened the Peach Pickers because they all hail from Georgia, have become one of Nashville's most successful writing teams, penning Joe Nichols' 'Gimme That Girl,' Blake Shelton's 'All About Tonight' and Luke Bryan's 'I Don't Want This Night to End,' among others.
