Story Behind the Song: Blake Shelton, ‘All About Tonight’
Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson and Ben Hayslip co-wrote Blake Shelton's 2010 single, "All About Tonight." Released as the first single from Shelton's EP of the same name, "All About Tonight" became the singer's seventh No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and landed at No. 8 on the year-end Billboard Country Songs chart. Below, Akins tells The Boot about the inspiration for the tune.
We decided that we wanted to write a song about how we just don't care about tomorrow because tomorrow can wait until tomorrow ... It's all about tonight!
We just went from there and touched on things like, I know I'm going to have a headache in the morning, and I'll probably be broke. There's no telling what we're going to do, and I don't even care because it's all about tonight. That's all I'm worried about! It's a good, fun party song about where the night is going to go.
After we wrote it, we thought it sound[ed] just like a Blake Shelton song. It's his life!
