Jason Isbell first found musical success with the Drive-By Truckers, a band that he was a part of from 2001 to 2007, when he left to start his solo career. The Alabama native released his debut album, 'Sirens of the Ditch', in 2007, and 2013's 'Southeastern' became his first Top 30 album on the all-genre Billboard 200, but it wasn't until his fifth studio record, 'Something More Than Free', released in 2015, that Isbell earned the top spot on the Top Country Albums chart (and also on the Folk Albums, Rock Albums and Americana Radio Airplay charts). Isbell plays several instruments, including the guitar, the mandolin, the trumpet and the French horn. He is married to singer-songwriter Amanda Shires; the couple has a daughter, Mercy Rose.
