Sturgill Simpson brought a whole bunch of soul to Los Angeles' Staples Center with his performance of "All Around You" at the 2017 Grammy Awards. Backed the by the horns of the legendary Dap-Kings, Simpson's performance was a powerful tribute to the late Sharon Jones, who passed away in November of 2016.

Introduced by fellow country pioneer Dwight Yoakam, Simpson performed "All Around You," from his Grammy Awards-winning A Sailor's Guide to Earth, with equal parts soul, funk and good-old Americana spirit. His vocals were sharp, his emotions were raw, and that horn section behind him brought the Grammys audience to their feet. In front of a beautiful stained-glass backdrop, Simpson's heartfelt performance of a song written for his son was certainly a highlight of the 59th annual Grammys.

Earlier in the evening, A Sailor's Guide to Earth took home the Grammys trophy for Best Country Album. Simpson took time from the stage to thank his wife and son, saying that he "wouldn’t have written this record" without them.
