Randy Houser Does ‘Victory’ Lap to Help Kids

Randy Houser is getting ready to put his 'Boots On' and jump in the driver's seat for a tour with fellow CMA nominee Jamey Johnson. But last week the singer made a special stop at Victory Junction in Randleman, N.C., lending his time and his voice to a NASCAR-themed camp for chronically ill children ages six to 16.

The 2009 Victory Junction PSAs will begin airing on ESPN during select televised races this fall.

Camp founder and NASCAR legend Kyle Petty said of Randy, "Being big country music fans all of our lives, we all love his 'old-school' style of music. Rnady is such a genuinely engaging person, our campers and staff fell in love with him immediately. With Victory Junction's 'Feel Your Heart Race' NASCAR theme, the connection with Nashville and country music is an easy one to make, being that we share many of the same fans."

Among the activities Randy participated in, Kyle reveals, were bowling against some of the campers and competiting against them in race simulators.

"Whether he won or lost -- and he did both," says Kyle, "he looked like he had the most fun of anyone there.

"Victory Junction Camp was unbelievable," Randy said of the 80-acre facility. "The Pettys have built a special place for kids to have fun and create memories that wouldn't be possible. I'm just happy they let me come hang out for the day!"

Randy is nominated for both New Artist and Video of the Year at this year's CMA Awards. CMT on Tour 2009 will make pit stops in 30 markets across the U.S. beginning Oct. 8 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
