Neil Young, Lukas and Micah Nelson Announce Tour to Support New Album
Neil Young and Willie Nelson's sons, Lukas and Micah Nelson, are hitting the road together to support their new joint album, The Monsanto Years.
The record is Young's response to Monsanto, a chemical company that specializes in genetically modified seeds. Young debuted some of the songs, which have titles like "Monsanto Years," "Rock Starbucks" and "Too Big to Fail," at a surprise concert on April 16 in San Luis Obispo, Calif., featuring Lukas Nelson's band, Promise of the Real.
Young hinted at the beginning of this year that he was working on a record that would address Monsanto, but it wasn't clear at the time if he was serious.
"I'm working on another album now that I'm going to be doing with Willie Nelson's sons," Young said at the time. "It's an upbeat review of the situation."
The 69-year-old has long been a proponent of eliminating Monsanto, going so far as to boycott Starbucks last year, in light of their alleged use of chemicals in their beverages and food.
Young has previously performed with Promise of the Real at both Farm Aid and the Bridge School Benefit. According to Rolling Stone, the album will be released on June 16. See a complete list of tour dates below.
