Miranda Lambert's 2012 is off to a rough start, what with the recent deaths of her father-in-law, a close childhood friend and her dog. If nothing else, she can look forward to Wednesday night (Feb. 8), when she'll appear on 'Law & Order: SVU," a show she called "her favorite" in a recent interview with ET Online.

"I watch every marathon," she says in the clip below. "It's a [tour] bus staple."

As Miranda explains, both of her parents were private investigators, and her father served as a narcotics officer and worked with victims of rape and violent crimes.

"I feel like maybe it's in my background," she said, explaining her affinity for 'SVU.' Maybe it would have been something I would have gone into had I not been a singer."

On the episode, the country superstar plays an actress who accuses a reality show producer of a sexual assault.

"It's a very intense situation," she said. "It's kind of close to my heart, too, growing up around abused women and children. My family used to take them in and nurture families of domestic violence."

"I just want to be believable," she added, "I want to take it really seriously and step out of Miranda Lambert and step into my character, because it's not a fun role. It's something people need to be aware of."

Miranda's episode airs on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 10PM EST on NBC.
