Recording artist Meghan Linsey and producer Tyler Cain have joined their musical talents for their new country music duo project, Meg & Tyler. Their first song, "Mardi Gras and Rhinestones," is out as of last month. It's a positive, celebratory song about unifying to party.

"It’s just a fun song. I’m from New Orleans and it’s got a lot of that flavor on it," Linsey, The Voice season eight runner-up, told The Boot on the blue carpet at the CMT Music Awards in June. "It’s about bringing people together, all walks of life, all different types of people, and just having a party."

Linsey and Cain paid homage to those Cajun roots with the accompanying video for the song, where they went to downtown Nashville during CMA Fest with a second-line parade-- and it looks like it was a blast.

The two don't just have a creative partnership-- they recently got engaged after seven years of dating. Cain popped the question in Alaska, where they also filmed a music video for a love song they wrote, which is expected to come out in the fall. Linsey says them coming together to release new music as a duo was "a natural progression."

"It just seemed like the time was right," Cain says.

Fans can expect more music from the duo soon. "We have almost a whole EP done," Cain says. "We’re just in a really creative time right now, just writing, recording everyday. It’s an exciting time right now."
