Lyle Lovett has chosen an appropriate title for his next studio effort. Due out Feb. 28, 'Release Me' will mark his final album for Curb Records, the label he's worked with since inking his original recording contract in 1985.

A mix of originals and covers, 'Release Me' will include two selections from 'Songs for the Season,' the Christmas-themed EP he recently released. One, 'The Girl With the Holiday Smile,' is a Lyle original, while the other, 'Baby, It's Cold Outside,' is a holiday standard. That mix of old and new befits the Texas legend, who's spent years mining various influences and establishing himself as one of country's most respected artists.

Speaking with Rolling Stone earlier this year, the Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and actor looked ahead to the next phase in his enviable career.

"I don't know really how it's gonna go, but I probably want to make my records myself and then figure out how to sell them after they're made," Lyle told the magazine. "[Curb's] been great to me and they've given me my career, but I'm excited to see what's next."
