On June 12, 2014, the Band Perry's Kimberly Perry married professional baseball player JP Arencibia. The wedding took place at the First Presbyterian Church in Perry's hometown of Greeneville, Tenn., and had a star-studded guest list: Carrie Underwood, Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert attended, while musical cameos came courtesy of Lennon & Maisy and singer-songwriter Mac Powell. People reports Perry wore a Reem Acra gown and held a bouquet of white flowers.

The couple's fall 2013 engagement was just as fairytale-perfect: According to the Tennessean, the proposal — which took place at the musician's parents' house in Greeneville — was a complete surprise. Perry headed outside to meet her family for dinner and instead found Arencibia underneath an oak tree.

"Perry’s family moved to Greeneville onto a 15-acre spread grounded by a large oak tree when she was a teenager," the newspaper reports. "Perry said that from the first time she saw the tree, she hoped that 'if I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree.'"

The surprises didn't end there, however: When Perry went inside to slip on a pink dress (which she had always intended to wear when getting engaged), she found not just the clothing, but "a letter from her family and a bracelet that her grandfather had given her grandmother 'way back in the day' when they started dating." The sentimental touches were perfect.

“I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather’s bracelet,” Perry once shared. “I came back out on the front porch, and he was standing there, and he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”

Perry and Arencibia initially met in February of 2012, at the Florida Strawberry Festival. The latter was a fan — he'd seen the Band Perry a few times — and managed to finagle his way backstage to meet the musician and procure her phone number. He was driven by fate, notes the Tennessean: After seeing the Band Perry's "If I Die Young Video," he “had this moment where he felt like that was going to be a part of his future.”

After the pair started dating, Perry too realized that she felt "spiritually and emotionally" linked to Arencibia, as well as secure in their strong bond.

“I’ve never felt that with anyone before,” she said. “He’s just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure.”

However, in March of 2018, the couple filed for divorce.
