The Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry Gets Engaged

Kimberly Perry is off the market! The lead singer of the sibling trio, the Band Perry, has announced her engagement to Toronto Blue Jays starting catcher J.P. Arencibia.

According to Nashville's Tennessean, the songstress said "yes" Monday night (Sept. 30), when her boyfriend of 18 months proposed to her at her parent's home in Greeneville, Tenn. The 30-year-old, who once said as a teenager, “If I get proposed to in this life, I hope it happens underneath this tree" on their spacious property, got her wish.

Perry, who thought she was going out to dinner with her family, instead found Arencibia standing outside underneath the very tree she spoke of long before her award-winning career began.

“I saw that and I thought, ‘This is really happening,'" she recalls. But the surprises didn't end there. Perry was sent back to her childhood room by her mother, and ordered to put on a pink dress she said she wanted to wear if she ever got engaged. In her room, she found a letter from her family, along with a family heirloom -- a bracelet her grandfather gave to her grandmother when they started dating.

“I got to read the letter and get dressed and put on my grandfather’s bracelet,” she says. “I came back out on the front porch and he was standing there and he got down on one knee. It was perfect.”

The happy couple began dating in February of 2012, when the Band Perry (which also includes brothers Neil and Reid Perry), were performing at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City, Fla. But for Arencibia, his infatuation with the blond beauty began long before their show that day.

The ball player told Perry that when he saw the band's video for their chart-topping tune, 'If I Die Young,' he "had this moment where he felt like that was going to be a part of his future.” Propelled by that intuition, he arranged to meet Perry backstage, and sparks flew between the two.

“I’ve never felt that with anyone before,” she says about their instant connection. “He’s just a really gentle soul. He balances me for sure.”

Perry and Arencibia plan to wed next summer. Congratulations to the happy couple!
