Kelsea Ballerini took the stage at the 2016 CMA Awards early in the evening to perform her latest No. 1 single, "Peter Pan."

Dressed in a flowing nude-colored gown, Ballerini performed "Peter Pan" on a foggy stage. Behind her, two dancers performed acrobatic moves telling the story of the "lost boy with [his] head up in the clouds." Her performance was elegant and classy, but not over the top.

On Ballerini's 23rd birthday (Sept. 12), "Peter Pan" hit No. 1 and made Ballerini the first female artist (including duos and groups) in country music history to hit No. 1 with her first three consecutive singles from a debut album. The rising star also became the first solo female artist in history to top both the Country Airplay and Hot Country Singles chart simultaneously.

“To finally release my favorite song off my album was already enough for me. But to know that we just made history with it is bigger than I could have ever dreamed,” Ballerini said at the time. “Honestly, being the first woman to do this just inspires me to work hard and to make the best music I can.”

A country newcomer, Ballerini has had a huge year, including two CMA Awards nominations, for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. She is currently in the middle of her first headlining tour, aptly named The First Time Tour.
