Josh Abbott Band Announce New Album Details

The Josh Abbott Band have announced details about their upcoming new album, Front Row Seat. The 15-track record will be released on Nov. 6 on Thirty Tigers.

"'Front Row Seat' really was representative of what we we're doing here," Abbott tells Rolling Stone Country. "That's a song by Ruston Kelly, and it's all about having a front row seat, having this access to someone's life. Anybody that is married, you have a front row seat to her life and she has one to yours. We're kind of giving the fans a front row seat, not only to our band but to my story."

The tell-all, in musical form, is broken up into five chapters, covering Abbott's relationship with his ex-wife, from courtship to marriage to their recent divorce, reflected in the song, "Ghosts," from the record's fifth and final act.

"When you're in that moment and you're reliving the emotions of why you wrote a song, it can be real for you again," Abbott recalled. "I just broke down, there's really no other way to put it. I just started crying and by the third chorus I could barely sing. The producer was just like, 'That's the take. You're gonna want to change it, but don't. Live with that because people are going to hear that and feel it.'"

The Texan went public with his marital troubles early last year, admitting via Twitter that he had been unfaithful to his wife.

"I have not been the Christian husband that I needed to be in my marriage," Abbott confessed. "I have destroyed my marriage through multiple problems, including: problems w/ alcohol abuse, infidelity, and language. Somewhere along the last several years I have lost myself as an accountable human being. The temptations that we as artists and celebrities face are unreal to many of you. But regardless, I have to own up to my mistakes as a man."

The first single from Front Row Seat, "Amnesia," was released to radio stations across the country on Aug. 21. See a complete track list for Front Row Seat below.
