The Josh Abbott Band Share ‘Little More You,’ off Forthcoming EP [LISTEN]
The Josh Abbott Band just revealed their own interpretation of the modern, rocking country love song with “Little More You,” a selection from their upcoming new EP, Catching Fire, which is due out June 28.
“This cup could use a little more whiskey, this porch could use a little more swing,” begins Abbott’s list of already awesome things in line for some positive change, culminating with a little more one-on-one time with his love interest. Such sweet sentiments are equally relatable to high school sweethearts and old, married couples, making it the sort of universally understood love song at the very heart of country music storytelling—especially in the group’s home state of Texas.
It teases the seven-piece band’s first new music since the 2017 album Until My Voice Goes Out. Since that project dropped, the group's Josh Abbott has been accumulating lots of new fodder for love songs like "Little More You" -- the singer got married to Taylor Parnell in July of 2018. Following the wedding, Abbott revealed that he had penned a song dedicated to his bride called, appropriately enough, "Taylor Made for Me."
Abbott and his band mates first joined forces in 2006 as students at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Tx. Interest in old-fashioned Texas music has been kind to the group in recent years, with every album since 2012’s Small Town Family Dream cracking the US country albums chart’s top 25 and the indie album chart’s top 10.
No word yet on tour dates in support of the EP. The band's current tour itinerary for the summer and fall rarely strays from the Southwest.
