Joe NicholsJoe Nichols bravely admitted and conquered his addiction to alcohol, and now he is encouraging others to do the same. Teaming up with Hopeline, an outreach program dedicated to helping people face addiction issues, Joe created a website, www.anoldfriendofmine.com, named after a powerful song from his upcoming album.

"This site exists out of my desire to offer more than a song when talking about my struggle with addiction and recovery," says the country singer. "The purpose of OldFriendofMine.com is to be a starting point resource for teens, families, parents or individuals that are struggling with addiction or know some one who is struggling."

Joe, who's been sober for almost a year now, is taking a very hands-on approach with this new venture. Opening the site's chat room, which will be moderated by HopeLine on Thursday evenings, Joe hopes it will become a consistent resource for those in recovery. "This chat room also exists for people in recovery to talk with others around the world about how either they themselves or someone they know has said goodbye to addiction," he says.

Joe's album, 'Old Things New,' is due in stores next week. Click here to see his video for 'An Old Friend of Mine,' as well as to read more about Joe's personal story of recovery.
