Joe Nichols has been very open with the media about his struggles with alcohol addiction, but never on such a hugely candid scale. On this Saturday's (May 12) "Backstory," the country star reveals to GAC just how much his life spun out of control before he went to rehab, which was just one month after marrying longtime love, Heather Singleton.

"There's no way that Heather should still be married to me," Joe says of his bride, whom he wed in 2007. "I've done enough that's certainly warranted four or five divorces."

Part of what sparked the singer's battle with the bottle was his tortured past. Joe explains to GAC that he was raised by an abusive father. "He beat the hell out of me," he says of his dad, who passed away in 2002.

Now happy and healthy, having kicked his addictions and subsequent depression, Joe has settled down in Texas with Heather and their brand-new baby girl, Dylan River Nichols, born April 17. (The singer also has 13-year-old daughter Ashelyn from a previous relationship.) Their new daughter's birth comes after yet another huge hurdle Joe and Heather have had to face in their marriage: infertility. The couple open up on "Backstory" about the five miscarriages they suffered before welcoming their healthy and gorgeous Dylan.

GAC shares with The Boot this exclusive clip from the show, which premieres this Saturday at 11:00 PM ET. Click here for additional air times.
