Following a few days of medical troubles, Jason Michael Carroll's father, Jim, has died.

Around 11:30PM ET on Tuesday night (Sept. 27), Carroll posted a photo of his father's hand in his, captioned "Goodbye Daddy ... I love you." On Friday (Sept. 23), Carroll had asked his followers for prayers for his father, explaining that he'd received a call that morning that his dad was being taken in for emergency surgery "and he's not doin' so good." The following day (Sept. 24), Carroll reported that his father lost seven units of blood due to an aneurysm in his stomach.

"The doctor was surprised he made it to the hospital with that much blood loss," Carroll wrote. "His surgery went well, but his body isn't working the way it should. His blood pressure is fluctuating, and they are trying to keep him stable ... [T]here are still plenty of concerns, including his COPD and wondering how he will respond when or if they can take him off the ventilator."

A former Marine, Carroll's father underwent bypass surgery in September of 2014. A year before that, he'd had a procedure to open up a blocked artery.

During his dad's medical troubles, Carroll was the recipient of a random act of kindness: The singer shared on Facebook that a waitress named Amber at a restaurant Carroll visited paid his bill and offered prayers for his father.

"The world needs more random acts of kindness ... and I'm not talking about taking care of my tab," Carroll wrote. "#ThankYou for praying for my Dad, Amber! And to everyone else who has been praying as well!"

Carroll released his most recent album, What Color Is Your Sky, in May of 2015. The singer used a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, which he released through For the Lonely Records.
