Jason Aldean Is Back With a Vengeance in New Single, ‘We Back’ [LISTEN]
Jason Aldean is back -- with a brand-new single, and a new album on the way. On Monday (Sept. 9), the country star released "We Back" as the first single from his forthcoming new album. Readers can press play above to hear it.
A steady drum beat and a ominous-sounding guitar line open "We Back," is a "what goes around comes around" anthem. Much like Aldean's previous singles "Lights Come On" and "Take a Little Ride," the song is tailor made to rock an arena.
"We back, we back, we back in the speakers / Back in black getting blasted in the bleachers / It's probably true what my momma said / I do it just like my daddy did," Aldean sings in the chorus of "We Back" "We back, we back, we back in the saddle / Back onstage, makin' the whole place rattle / Back with the A-team, train on the track / Thought we were gone, but you wrong, now it's on / We back."
“When I came into country music and made my mark, it was with a banger. But we haven’t put out a lot of that stuff over the last couple years," Aldean says in a press release. "So we got this song and to me it just says what it says: ‘Thought we were gone, but you’re wrong – now it’s on.’”
"We Back" is Aldean's first single from a brand-new album, 9. Due out on Nov. 22, the project is Aldean's ninth studio album and is available for pre-order now. Fans who pre-order the project will receive instant downloads of "We Back," as well as three other new tracks: "Blame It on You," "I Don't Drink Anymore" and "Keeping It Small Town."
“Early on I always thought, if we ever got to make nine albums, I’m going to call it 9. It was my baseball number growing up, and it’s just kind of always been my lucky number,” Aldean says. "I remember cutting the first album and thinking, 'That’s forever away,' and now here we are.
"I don’t know, it’s really special we made it this far," he adds, "so, it’s more for me than anybody else – but, it means a lot."
Aldean released his first studio album, a self-titled project, in 2005. His most recent album, Rearview Town, arrived in April of 2018.
