Earlier this month, Jake Owen tied the knot with model girlfriend, Lacey Buchanan, but in his new single, "The One That Got Away," the country star reminisces about a lost love. The tune follows the rise and fall of a summer fling that "wrecked" his heart and, according to Jake, it was inspired by a real life relationship. (Listen to the song below.)

"It's a true song for me," he explains. "It's the one on the record that I wrote, just about my hometown and the way that girls and their families would come to town during the summer and then they'd leave three months later, go back up North, start school. They would always leave, and there's this one girl in particular, I just remember I never saw her again."

While Jake's story involves the beach -- since his hometown is Vero Beach, Fla. -- he thinks the theme of the song is relatable to all, despite geography.

"It doesn't matter if it happened on the beach or if it happened in your hometown," he adds, "somebody's got that one person that they kind of look back on and wish ... wonder what would have been."

Jake is hitting the road this summer with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw on their Brothers of the Sun tour. The trek begins June 2 in Tampa, Fla. Get a full list of dates here.
