Garth Brooks will be performing at the 2018 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo -- twice. The country superstar stopped by RodeoHouston 2017 on Thursday evening (March 16) to share the big news during a press conference.

Brooks will be opening RodeoHouston 2018 and playing its closing show, the Houston Chronicle reports. Brooks' two RodeoHouston shows will take place on Feb. 27, 2018, and March 18, 2018. Ticketing details and a complete entertainment schedule for the 2018 rodeo, set for Feb. 27-March 18, will be announced at a later date.

"We are thrilled to welcome Garth Brooks back to the RodeoHouston stage," says Jack A. Lyons, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo chairman of the board. "This is the first time in multi-entertainer show history that one artist has opened and closed RodeoHouston, and we could not think of a more engaging performer to take on this epic presentation."

Brooks and the rodeo started dropping hints about his RodeoHouston 2018 appearance on Thursday afternoon: The rodeo tweeted out a photo of a woman holding up a whiteboard with the phrase "Something great is coming ..." around 4PM ET, with the G in "great" written to look like Brooks' logo. Earlier in the day, Brooks himself tweeted, "On my way to Austin, via Houston? Hmmmm. I have an announcement to make!" The singer is headed to Austin to speak at SXSW 2017 on Friday (March 17).
