Country Films Debuting at Nashville Film Festival
Music City residents may be used to seeing country music icons on stage and around town, but next month fans will get a deeper glimpse at some country favorites on the big screen.
Films highlighting Glen Campbell, Bela Fleck, Shovels & Rope and the Carter Family are in the lineup for the 2014 Nashville Film Festival next month.
In 'Glen Campbell... I'll Be Me,' filmmakers followed Campbell and his family as the icon set out on his Goodbye Tour following his diagnosis with Alzheimer's disease. 'Bela Fleck: How to Write a Banjo Concerto' follows the banjo player's process as he composes a concerto to be played with the Nashville Symphony.
'The Winding Stream' serves as a tribute to the Carter family dynasty -- from the original Carter Family act through June Carter's marriage to Johnny Cash, and the current generation of musicians today. A much newer family legacy is highlighted in 'The Ballad of Shovels & Rope,' following the husband and wife duo on their rise in the world of Americana music.
The special Music Films/Music City lineup will also feature films on Led Zeppelin, Johnny Winter and Juston Stens of Dr. Dog. A full lineup of music films is available on the festival's website.
