Carrie Underwood Voices Gay Marriage Support

Carrie Underwood is thankful for the wedded bliss she's been enjoying for more than two years with professional hockey player Mike Fisher. She just wishes everyone had the right to such happiness, regardless of their sexual orientation.

"As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love," the 29-year-old star tells London newspaper The Independent. "I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love."

The devout Christian, whose first No. 1 hit was "Jesus, Take the Wheel," says it's because of her faith that she feels so strongly about gay marriage. "Our church is gay friendly," Carrie explains. "Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or [saying] 'everyone has to be like me.' No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody."

The Oklahoma native is preparing herself for an extended separation from her adoring spouse, when she hits the road for her Blown Away tour later this year. But she insists that, in spite of not being able to spend much time together, their marriage will remain stronger than ever.

"Everything we are at this very moment is a culmination of everything that we've done in our entire lives," Carrie tells The Boot. "You never know what curve balls life is going to throw you and there's no way I can predict anything or make any assumptions about what the rest of my life is going to be like. My husband and I both live pretty unpredictable careers."

Carrie will kick off her Blown Away tour on September 14 in Manchester, N.H., with Hunter Hayes serving as her opening act. See a complete list of dates here.
