Brett Young recently announced the release of his sophomore album, Ticket to L.A., and on Friday (Sept. 14), he shared the first single off the project. Readers can press play above to listen to "Here Tonight," written by Young along with Ben Caver, Justin Ebach and Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelley.

Young says that his new album, including this first single, is a little more "peppy" than some of his earlier work. The "In Case You Didn't Know" singer proposed to his long-time, on-again-off-again girlfriend Taylor Mills in February of this year, and the romantic vibes channeled into a more upbeat feel for his songwriting for his second album; in other words, he's taking a turn from his trademark heartbreaking love songs, including his most recent single, "Mercy."

But Young doesn't stray too far from swoon-worthy romance in the lyrics of "Here Tonight," which he delivers with his characteristic soulful sound: "If ever I get lost in your eyes tonight / Please just let me stay right there a little bit longer / Underneath the stars, we are on fire / And I don't want to go / If you don't want to go ..." the first verse opens gently, before moving into a crashing chorus.

"We’re just one kiss away from heaven / So, baby, hold on tight," Young sings in "Here Tonight." "'Cause I want to be wrapped up in your love / So, baby, let’s just stay here tonight ..."

"Here Tonight" is the lead single from Ticket to L.A., which is due out on Dec. 7, but can be pre-ordered now on Young's website. It's Young's fifth career single, following four No. 1 hits and another that's still climbing the charts.
