Brad PaisleyFor anyone who has ever met Brad Paisley's likable dad Doug, it's easy to see the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Whether he's smiling in the background at a party celebrating his son's latest chart topping hit or seeing him pick up another honor at an industry award show, it's obvious Doug is proud of his boy.

When asked what he learned from his father, Brad tells The Boot, "He's all about how you treat people. My dad's really nice to everybody. That's important. He grew up that way."

Growing up in Glen Dale, West Va., Brad recalls his father as being a low key local hero. "He was the guy who got called in my home town for any emergency," Brad says. "He was an EMT with the fire department. He was on the recreation board in town and basically ran the swimming pool. He's one of those guys [who] was so important, they would shut down without him."

Though he could always be counted on to help anyone in their hometown, family has always been a priority and he's always supported Brad in his musical ambitions. In 2006, when Brad won the CMA Album of the Year Award for 'Time Well Wasted,' he thanked his dad from stage telling the audience. "My father ... when I was growing up used to haul gear. He was no good at music, but he would haul gear in and out of places and he has a bad back now. It's an amazing thing that he did all that for me."
