It's awards season, and once again country music holds its own up against pop, rock and rap heavyweights. The first round of 2012 People's Choice Awards nominations was revealed today, with a lot of Nashville's finest in the mix.

Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Kenny Chesney are all nominated for the all-genre Favorite Male Artist award, while Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift have nods for Favorite Female Artist.

The all-genre Album of the Year award is shaping up to be a tight race with Eric Church's 'Chief,' Lady Antebellum's 'Own the Night' and Blake Shelton's 'Red River Blue' up against Adele's best-selling CD, '21,' and Lady Gaga's sophomore smash, 'Born This Way.' And in another category that includes all types of music, country mainstays Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban have all been nominated for the Favorite Tour Headliner honors.

But the noms you've really been waiting for are in the Favorite Country Artist category, where friends, peers and even spouses will be dueling it out for the top spot. The Band Perry, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Zac Brown Band and newlyweds Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton will all be competing to be the people's fave in country.
