Zac Brown Band Make ‘Tremendous’ Leaps With New CD
The highly-anticipated new album from the Zac Brown Band hits stores nationwide this Tuesday, September 21. The new 14-track project, titled 'You Get What You Give,' is filled with the signature ZBB sound -- delectable harmonies with a laid back country-rock vibe -- that fans have grown to love.
"We are really proud of this album," Zac tells The Boot of the followup to their breakthrough 'The Foundation' album. "We spent a lot of time working on it and can't wait for everyone to hear it."
The current single from the new album is 'As She's Walking Away,' which was penned by Zac and his right-hand-man, Wyatt Durrette. The twosome are also responsible for previous ZBB hits 'Chicken Fried,' 'Whatever It Is,' 'Toes' and 'Highway 20 Ride.' 'As She's Walking Away,' which features Alan Jackson, enters Billboard's Top 15 country singles chart this week. That's one of many good indications that the new CD has trumped the sophomore slump curse.
"Every step of it's done the right way, and I expect people are really going to love this record and see the depth of our musicianship," Zac tells USA Today of their second studio album. "We're always growing. Not that we've arrived at any grand finale or anything, but the progress from this last record to this one, it's tremendous."
Other projects in the works for the ZBB include the arrival of Zac's fourth daughter with his wife Shelly, as well as a second child for fiddler Jimmy De Martini and his wife. In addition to the babies-on-the-way, the band is in the midst of building a new recording studio in Atlanta where the band is from. In November, the band is nominated in five categories at the CMA Awards including the prestigious Entertainer of the Year.
