Zac Brown Band Acoustic Album & More Coming in 2013
Zac Brown Band fans will be pleased to hear that much more new music from the group is expected in 2013. Last July, the Georgia boys released Uncaged, which was named Country Album of the Year at Sunday's (Feb. 10) Grammy Awards, and there could be as many as three new records from the band this year.
"We're going to release a new album this year, a little later in the year, an acoustic record too," frontman Zac Brown says (quote via Ashley Mann on Music Row). "We've been hanging out with T Bone Burnett, he's playing in the band as well with us, I've been talking with him too. So, hopefully we'll get to do a project with him this year."
Given Burnett's past work -- he's the genius behind the Grammy-winning "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack and the Oscar-winning "Crazy Heart" music -- and the band's sound, either an acoustic album or that with the famed music producer is likely to have a somewhat "folk" vibe. With the current success of Mumford & Sons as well as the Avett Brothers, that could expand the group's already enormous fan base.
"I think everything runs in cycles," said Zac backstage at the Grammys, after being asked why folk music was so popular at the moment. "You go through cycles of having some really not so great things go through, and it gets back to being real and back to the roots. It's great to have people who actually play their instruments, and sing and write their own songs and have real bands and things like that. It's time for a lot of that to come back around full circle. Mumford & Sons winning Album of the Year – they deserve it. They're one of my favorite bands ever. It's great to see that real music is getting the spotlight."
No word on release dates for any of the upcoming ZBB projects.
