Zac Brown Band Shows Keep Bucket List Brimming

The Zac Brown Band has accomplished some really impressive things in the 10 years since they debuted on the scene back in 2002, and as 2012 winds down, the guys are proud to admit they marked off a major goal on their bucket list this past year --- selling out Madison Square Garden! The band actually keeps an active bucket list of things they want to achieve and says they even meet up once a year to go over the list and add things to it.

"We have a really long bucket list!" ZBB member Coy Bowles tells the Boot. "Every year we go camping, and we actually literally have a bucket list that we pull out and we see what we've accomplished and we check it off. We've checked off a lot of stuff!"

"And we add to it every year ... minor things and goals like we want to play all around the world," adds member Daniel De Los Reyes.

"The very first time we sat down and did the bucket list we put on it to sell out Madison Square Garden, says ZBB's Chris Fryar. "And we did that this year, so it was really cool to flip through and be like, 'What!?' 'Cause three years ago, that was unheard of for us to be able to do that!"

Though they've played the last few years with a lot of amazing artists, including James Taylor, Alan Jackson, John Mayer, Dwight Yoakam and Amos Lee, the guys admit they still have plenty of artists they'd like to jam with on their bucket list, as well.

"Sting or Peter Gabriel would be really cool," says Coy. "Either one of those would be amazing! And Paul Simon would be cool!"

Zac and company admit they've had quite a few bucket list-type moments already onstage, and have a tough time picking which shows are their favorites. But with as many exotic and amazing places as they've played, one of their faves this year was actually pretty close to home.

"The first night of the Southern Ground shows in Nashville might be my favorite," says Chris. "The first time we played Red Rocks was very interesting," adds Coy. "And we did a performance with James Taylor that the energy on the stage was really awesome! Then the second night at Hyde Park was one, as well. You can tell there's like this weird, zinging energy that starts flying around the stage when it's really happening, and the first night of the Southern Ground Festival in Nashville was really on fire!"

The band will wrap this year's tour schedule New Year's Eve at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, where buddy Kid Rock just may make an appearance to jam with the guys for his hometown crowd.
