Zac Brown Band New Album Details Are ‘Uncaged’
More details are emerging about Uncaged, the new Zac Brown Band album due in stores July 10. Lead singer Zac Brown says the new CD shows "powerful chemistry that's developed by living, traveling and working as a band. We're always trying to push the barrier of our musicianship and I'm proud to say that there is a little bit of something for everyone."
Uncaged promises plenty of collaborations, including co-writes with Jason Mraz, Sonia Leigh, Nic Cowan and Wyatt Durrette. Additionally, friend and frequent duet partner Amos Lee contributes guest vocals to one track, as do some yet-to-be revealed guest artists. "There's some good love," Zac promises to Miami radio station 99.9 Kiss Country (quote via CMTT). "There's an amazing artist, a guy named Trombone Shorty, we've got a thing with him. The other ones I'm going to leave a secret."
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for another future ZBB album to hear the band duet with Kenny Chesney. "He's such an amazing guy, and I definitely wanted to [collaborate]," explains Zac. "I tried to pitch that to him, but he has this thing going with Tim McGraw right now ("Feel Like a Rock Star"), and he didn't want to 'duet to death.' But there's some of that to come down the road. But what a great guy, and what a great ambassador for hospitality, and as an entertainer."
It's been almost two years since Zac Brown Band released a studio album (You Get What You Give), but the group's frontman says fans won't have to wait so long for new music anymore. "We are going to start putting out a live record, probably once a year," Zac maintains. "We write way more songs than we could ever put on a record that lives for two years. You're going to see a lot of the music that we've written over the years. Not long from now, we're very excited to be our own company. We control all of our company except our licensing. We've had a great partner with Atlantic Records, and this record that we handed in (Uncaged) is our final obligation to them. We'll be able to release a lot of music that we've written, and get that out to the fans."
More music might mean more touring, but the father of four little girls already has a plan in place. "Sometimes we'll bring out a family bus. Sometimes I'll take my girls out with me on my bus," Zac notes. "If my whole family comes, just because we need some help, my sister travels with us as well sometimes, and my mother-in-law. We'll bring out a family bus and bring them out. I can't do that every run, because it definitely adds some work load, but man it's so good."
Zac will have plenty of opportunities to get his daughters used to life on the road. The band has a packed schedule full of summer dates, including shows in Maryland, Maine and Colorado. Keep track of their concert schedule here.
