Willie NelsonWith his recent headline-making haircut, Willie Nelson is traveling a little lighter these days. And now, the country legend and founding member of the Green Music Group is challenging you to do the same ... But you don't need to get out the scissors.

What Willie wants you to do is to park your car and try an an alternative form of transportation. Next, take a photo of yourself meeting the challenge, whether on your bike, trike, skateboard or pogo stick, etc. Submit your photo to the Green Music Group website. But you'd better hurry, the deadline is Friday, June 4 at 12:00 PM ET. Of course, creativity counts (as does safety), so get that imagination fired up -- organize a bus trip for all your friends, start a bicycle convoy that includes kids in trailers towed behind the pedal-powered transport or try something else. Check out the site for some of the photos of folks who've already taken the challenge.

Naturally Willie himself has contributed to the cause and has several suggestions of ways to participate. "When I'm on the road, I fuel my bus with sustainable community-based biodiesel," says the entertainer in a video about the challenge. "It feels good not using any biodiesel when I travel."

Still not convinced it's worth "going green"? Winners will receive a $500 gift certificate to Hard Rock Cafe (think meals, t-shirts and other cool stuff) and each time you participate in one of the group's challenges, you're entered into a drawing to win a 2010 Honda Insight Hybrid LX.

Go to the Green Music Group website for all the details and for more eco-friendly challenges.
