Little Big Town Earn Vocal Group of the Year at 2017 ACM Awards
Congratulations to Little Big Town, the 2017 ACM Awards Vocal Group of the Year! Their big win was revealed on Sunday night (April 2), during the annual awards ceremony, in Las Vegas, Nev.
After stopping to hug their fellow nominees, Little Big Town took the stage to accept their award, looking surprised -- and still reveling in Lady Antebellum's performance of "You Look Good" just moments before.
"I just want to be in Lady Antebellum's band!" Kimberly Schlapman exclaimed, referring to the University of Las Vegas marching band, which performed with Lady A earlier in the evening.
LBT spent most of their acceptance speech throwing out praise for everyone else, including their families, the Academy of Country Music and even the HBO series Big Little Lies, which happens to feature Keith Urban's wife, Nicole Kidman: "We have to hurry the whole show tonight because we have to watch the finale of Big Little Lies," Karen Fairchild said after noting that there were only 19 seconds left for their thank yous.
Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet got the last word, thanking family, friends and, of course, the fans.
Little Big Town, currently in the middle of their Ryman Auditorium residency, were named Vocal Group of the Year at the 2016 CMA Awards — their fifth consecutive win. Late in 2016, they revealed that Taylor Swift wrote “Better Man,” the first single off their new album, The Breaker; that release is Little Big Town’s eighth studio album and the followup to Wanderlust. LBT has won the ACM for Vocal Group of the Year four times now.
Other nominees for Vocal Group of the Year at the 2017 ACM Awards included the Eli Young Band, Old Dominion, Rascal Flatts and Lady Antebellum.
