Thompson Square Are Having a Baby

Keifer and Shawna Thompson of Thompson Square might have to change their band's name. They're going from "T2" to "T3" -- that's right, the couple has a baby on the way!

The duo made the announcement in a pretty adorable way, too: On Tuesday (Aug. 4), they posted a photo on their social media channels of themselves sipping on Diet Coke; one can says "Mom," and the other says "Dad."

"WELL……WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO BE A DUO ANYMORE!!!!!!!" the Thompsons captioned the photo, along with the hashtags "#Jan2016," "#T3," "#WeDidIt" and "#BabyOnBoard."

“We are overjoyed to announce that, after 16 years of marriage, we are finally starting a family and are excited beyond words to begin this new journey into parenthood!" the couple says in an official statement.

Keifer Thompson also tells People, “We’re really, really excited. We’ve been together for a long time, and we’ve done a lot of things, and we just really felt there was something missing. We love what we do, we love the music business, but we didn’t want to deprive ourselves of having a family.”

As traveling artists, the Thompsons will have to make accommodations for their soon-to-be-born son or daughter -- and that includes renovations to their tour bus.

“We’re going to have to design a whole new bus!” Keifer Thompson exclaims. Adds Shawna Thompson, “We’re going to need to turn one of the bunks into a crib, and we’ll need a changing area. It’s going to be interesting.”

Keifer and Shawna Thompson (39 and 37, respectively) also joke that the mama-to-be has had some pretty strange pregnancy cravings already.

“She was like, ‘I think I might need to go get a test because I just ate a cantaloupe followed by a pickle chaser,'" Keifer Thompson recalls. He's already delegated the right to choose the new baby's name to his wife, although he jokes that "Toothpaste Thompson" would be a great, alliteration-driven name.

Thompson Square will continue to tour through the fall of 2015; as per their social media announcement, their bundle of joy is due in January. For tour dates, visit the band's website.
