Will Taylor Swift be ringing in the new year with Ryan Seacrest? The "American Idol" host appeared on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" last week and dropped some big hints about his musical guests for ABC's annual "New Year's Rockin' Eve" show. He explained that show executives are "this close" to securing a major performer, and then described what kind of person that could be.

"We haven't announced it yet, but wouldn't it be great if we could get a female artist (who) is setting records, in terms of what she's selling recently?" Ryan began. "She loves the color red, and if you're with her, you may never, ever, ever be back together with her ... And, she loves a good breakup anthem."

While Fallon jokingly guessed Aretha Franklin, we're pretty positive Seacrest was describing a certain "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" singer, who just released the record-breaking album, Red.

While the TV and radio host, who has been working the New Year's Eve show since 2005, is looking forward to the event, it's accompanied with sadness over the loss of its original host and producer.

"This is the first time in 40-plus years that we'll be in Times Square without Dick Clark, as he passed away, and he's such a hero of mine and was a dear friend," says Seacrest. "It will be special, celebratory, reflective, but certainly emotional. I'm excited but at the same time, I've never done it without him in Times Square."
